Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra Mountain is only a place to go for wintertime sports, right? Wrong! Mammoth Lakes is also a wonderful place in the summer months. Wonderful temps of around 75 degrees with beautiful clear skies makes this a place to visit. The city has numerous bike lanes on the major city streets as well as a paved "bike trail" around the outside of town. But, a new trail has been installed from downtown Mammoth Lakes along Lake Marys Road to Horseshoe Lake for around a 12 mile round trip. But, at 9,000 feet! This is one of the most beautiful bike routes I have seen in years. Views of the snow covered mountains as well as route wandering near the lakes of the Mammoth Basin. Next time you go to the "mountain" bring your road or mountain bike for a great time of biking in the Sierras.
